Bookending Winter #6: 2018 Review Journal Tour!

Hey guys! For BW #6 today, I am going to give you a tour of the notebooks I use to get my thoughts down on the books I read this year! You can find the post about the one I used last year here. 😊

Here is the journal I used for volume 1 this year. I had to have 2 volumes cuz this one was too thin to hold all of the books I read this year, and it was just so pretty that I had to use it!

LOOK! It even has gold edges! 😍😍😍

This is the title page I made from a Pinterest idea. I LOVE how it turned out!

And here is my master list with the title, author, and rating I gave it for each book.

Here is the first page in this notebook with my notes for The Neverland Wars by Audrey Greathouse. On each section for each book, I write down when I started and finished reading them, "awards" I give them (like best quote, best retelling, best female protagonist, etc...) so I can answer all those yearly tags/surveys, quotes and lines I loved the sound of and their page number, and on the next page starts the space for my general thoughts. 😊 I'm not going to show you every single book, but only a few whose pages I decorated that I liked the best. But if you want a list of all the books I've read this year so far, you can see it here or here!

I had to use this cute emoji washi tape I had because I thought it went with it perfectly. There's a lot of texting in this book.  😂

I LOVE these quotes about reading from this book! What more can you expect from a Beauty and the Beast retelling? 😊

I know this picture is terrible cuz I had to blur out my notes to avoid spoilers, but I wanted to show you the cute header I made with some planner stickers I had. I really like it. 😊

I love the ocean washi tape I used for this one, since it's a retelling of the little mermaid. 😊 This has some great quotes too.

And here's my index of volume 1.

And the pen test page.

And now on to volume 2! I really like how this turned out, I layered strips of washi tape and sealed it in with clear nail polish, then I stuck some silver letter stickers with my initials on them in the corner. It looks so pretty! 😊

This is the spine that I also covered with washi tape, and titled it with black sharpie.

And here is the title page for this one. I stuck some flower stickers in the corner, and put blue polka dots everywhere in the background. But It looked a lot better before my purse opened and dumped it in the snow and made the colors run everywhere and stain the page next to it. 😭😭😭

For this journal I decided to write the title a little differently, and I found this cool idea on Pinterest where you write in print on the background, and in black write the same thing in smaller cursive, and it looks really pretty! And instead of using washi tape like in the other one, I decided to use stickers to decorate it. 😊

I had to blur my notes out again, but I wanted to show you the stickers! I really like the one that says stay curious, because it's a Alice in Wonderland Retelling, and the leaves and flowers are because plants play a big role in Splintered.

The Snow Queen and Other Winter Tales is an anthology of winter themed-fairy tales, so I used some Christmas stickers! 😍

Breadcrumbs is also a winter-themed book, so here are my badly drawn snowflakes. 😂

And the index. I really love that washi tape that my roommate gave me! It looks so classy.

And the pen test page!

So what did you think? I'll be back on Tuesday with another post for Bookending Winter! How are your posts going? Are you making any progress with your Christmas Readathon books? Got any fun plans for Christmas? 😄🎄

  1. OMG I'm drooling here Heather! So much prettiness in one post! I have a neat review notes journal which I've sorta neglected, where I copy over my review notes so I know what the hell I'm on about. And it also means I can highlight the title when it's been reviewed.

Otherwise I'm lost...so I think I'll make some time to update that. But Mostly my review notes are plopped into a notebook which is "rough" haha

  2. Wow, what a neat idea, Heather! I love how you used washi tape and stickers to match the theme of each book. It was so fun to read through the quotes! :D
