Bookending Winter #11: Hopeful New Years

 

Hey guys! For my final Bookending Winter post, (I was going to do 12 posts, for the 12 days of Christmas, but one of the things I was going to do for a post didn't work out, so now it's 11. 😂) I'm doing the Hopeful New Years prompt by Amy @ The Little Book Nerds in the Corner, where we list the books we would like to finish before the clock strikes midnight on the 31st! And for me, this is definitely hopeful, because as of this post, I still have to finish like 5 books I'm only a quarter way through of, and 3 of them are practically 500+ pages. 😬 What have I gotten myself into? Especially since 2018 has been the year of The Great Reading Slump. 😂 I really hope next year will be better...

This is a 721-page-long anthology of winter/Christmas themed fairy tales and short stories, and as I'm pre-writing this post earlier this week, I'm only on page 298. 😩 I considered putting it aside, finishing it in January and picking a shorter book to replace it so I'd still meet my goal, but I'm still determined to try to read as much as I can until the last minute, even though I'll probably fail. 😂

Amy's readathon challenge prompts: 

• A book you can make a Christmas word out of the title and/or author's name. (Christmas, reindeer, mistletoe, bells, or jingle.) (spells reindeer.)
•  An extravagant, sparkly, beautiful or decorative book.
•  A book set in winter.
• A book with a white or light blue cover.
•  A book with snow on the cover. 
• A book with the word snow, frost, ice or light in the title. 

I'm not sure what I think about this one yet, there's some things in here that are making me mad, so there's a chance I might DNF it, but it's still interesting and it's only 270 pages, and I'm only a little less than halfway through it, so I might read a little more and then decide.

• Read a book you've been putting off all year.  

I LOVE this series and I'm really enjoying this book, but I just wish I could get through it faster since it's almost 500 pages and I have so many other things to read. But yet since it's the last book in the series I kind of don't want to finish it cuz I'm not ready to let it go. 😂

• A book with the word snow, frost, ice or light in the title.  

I found the audiobook for this for free on a digital library app, and so I started listening to it while I was working at the fairgrounds to get a head start, even though I felt guilty cuz I had the paperback at home, but it's kind of nice to be able to have that as a backup to help me breeze through it these last few day of the year, cuz it's almost 500 pages too.

•   A book that's been on your TBR since last year.

I haven't started this one yet, but hopefully I'll enjoy it and it won't be too hard to get through.
