Since the Summer Solstice was this Thursday, I decided to do the Summer Reader Tag, created by Island of Dri. Right now as you're reading this I'm out camping for the weekend with no internet and catching up on my reading. But don't worry, I will be back for real this Tuesday! 😂 In the mean time, enjoy this pre-written post:
Lemonade: pick a book that started off bitter but got better.

I definitely struggled with the beginning of this one. I buddy read it last summer with my friend Grace, and if it weren't for that, I might've DNF'd it early on. I'm glad I stuck it out though because the ending picked up the pace of the plot a lot and ended on a cliff hanger that made me want to eventually pick up the next book in the series.
Golden Sun: pick a book that made you smile beyond compare.

I'm sure there are other books that have made me smile, but the one that left the biggest impression was probably this series. It's just so fun and fluffy and makes me feel all warm and happy inside. 😊 It's one of my favorite series, and if you want to know more on why I love it so much, you can read my post about it here!
Tropical Flowers: pick a book set in a foreign country.

This is a Beauty and the Beast retelling...which we all know is set in France. 😉
Tree Shade: pick a book in which a mysterious or shady character was first introduced.

Well...Angra's pretty shady I guess, no pun intended. 😂 (You'll get it if you've read it...hopefully. 😳)
Beach Sand: pick a book that was grainy, and the plot barely developed.

I'm not sure what this question means by grainy exactly, but this one had such a disappointing plot. I kept waiting and waiting for something to happen, and I didn't even realize I read half the book and still I felt like the story hadn't gotten going yet! I mean it was a book about time travel, you'd think it would have more action right? This also was originally written in German, so maybe it was lost in translation or something? I don't know, maybe it just wasn't for me, because I know a lot of people who really enjoyed this book.
Green Grass: pick a character(s) that were full of life, making you smile.

Can you count extreme sass as "full of life?" Because if you can, I'm definitely going with Alosa because she is so full of wit and sarcasm and there were definitely a lot of times where she made me laugh and cheer her on. 😂
Watermelon: pick a book that had some juicy secrets.

Well, secrets in this book definitely cause a lot of drama. I mean, the main character has amnesia, so basically her whole life holds secrets, and there would be no plot without all of the problems that that causes. 😂
Sun Hat: pick a book that had a vast, big universe/setting.

I loved the settings in this book! The idea that there could be multiple dimensions where every possibility no matter how big or small could play out in infinite universes was so fascinating and mind boggling. 😄
BBQ: pick a book in which a character was portrayed as a hunk.

Uh, well, I think they described Dean as a hunk? Or maybe it was Michael? I don't even remember. 😂
Summer Fun: pass the tag on.

Amy @ The Little Book Nerds in The Corner
Kat @ Life and Other Disasters
Cait @ Paper Fury
So what did you think of this tag? What books took you a while to warm up to and what characters have made you laugh? Have you ever gone camping? What is your favorite way to eat smores? I like using the classic Hershey bar, but using Reese's for the chocolate is amazing! 😋
I'll see you on Tuesday when I get back from camping! Bye! ♡

Enjoy your camping trip! I used to camp all the time, but I haven’t been able to go for the last few years. I might have to steal this tag. I like it.
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Thanks! The camping trip was really fun! :)
DeleteYes please steal this tag if you like it! :P
Thank you for the tag Heather! I will hopefully post this soon. Maybe when I'm away too!
ReplyDeleteYes you should! :D
DeleteAww thanks for the tag!! It's winter for me though 😂😂 And UGH I hate camping so much and s'mores aren't even a thing in Australia. We do roast marshmallows over fires though??? But like I've heard even our marshmallows are super different to yours. And we always burn them black before eating so I don't even know.😂Camping is weird.
ReplyDeleteAlso definitely agree about Talon! I love that series and I need to finish it *flaps about getting nothing done* And omg all of Becky Albertalli's books make me laugh SO MUCH. Also The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue. I remember having to put it down for a minute to collect myself.😂
You're Welcome! And sorry I forgot. XD.
DeleteBut how much different can a marshmallow really be? :P And yeah camping can be annoying. That's why just for a weekend is nice. XD.
Yeah Talon was a little rough to get through but I still want to read the next one some time. :)
