Top Ten Tuesday-Bookish Resolutions

Hey everybody! Sadly The Broke and The Bookish has closed down, but Top Ten Tuesday has fortunately been moved to That Artsy Reader Girl, and this week's prompt is your top ten bookish goals or resolutions, so let's get started! 😄

1. Start tracking my reading stats.

I think it would be fun to track things like what type of genres I read most, male or female authors, publication dates, and things like that. I've seen other bloggers do this, and I love being organized, so I think it would be fun for me to try and a big help for me to figure out what types of books I seem to like more. I just need to figure out what the best format for me to do this in would be.

2. Read at least 50 books this year.

Last year I completed my goal of 40, and I want to try to up my game by 5-10 books every year. 😃

3. Read a little more of new releases.

I have SO MANY back list books that I make my priority usually, but there are a couple coming out this year that I DEFINITELY want to get to, so hopefully I can get to them so I can feel more like a "real" book blogger. 😂

4. Practice my art skills.

I want to practice my art skills by making bookmarks and other bookish crafts. I have this idea that one day I might open an Etsy shop where I would sell bookmarks, but I really need to develop some more skills. 😜

5. Keep up with my book club!

If you haven't heard, I recently started an online book club through Goodreads called The Second Star Society and I really want to be a good moderator and be able to manage it well, especially if it gets really big in the future. I want to have a plan so it won't get out of hand.

6. Participate in more reading challenges.

Last year I saw a whole bunch of cool reading challenges on everybody else's blogs, and I chickened out on all of them because I thought I wouldn't have enough time to commit to them and I wouldn't be able to "win." This year I really want to make sure I participate in as many as I can and just have fun being involved with them and not worry about actually trying to win anything. I don't want to miss out on anything anymore! 😩

7. Practice Book Photography.

I really like bookstagram type photos, but I'm skeptical about getting an instagram because it seems a little too vain for me. I don't want it to feel like I'm bragging or anything, I want my photos to serve a purpose. So if I did take book photos, I would just use them for my blog somehow. I don't know, I may end up making a bookstagram account one day, but for now I just want to learn more about photography and get some practice.

8. Get a job at a bookstore.

I neeeeeed to do this. I really need a job and to figure out what I'm supposed to be doing with my life, and there is this little bookstore in my town I love that I think I would be really good at working there with my experience, and with my love of books I would actually enjoy it, but life got in the way and I still haven't applied yet, so I really need to at least get my application together this week. I won't know if I don't try, right?

9. Write book reviews waaaaaay sooner after I finish the book.

Ugh. I'm bad at this. I really need to figure out a permanent blogging and reading schedule so I can get better at this.

10. Get more involved in the book blogging community somehow.

Hopefully I can by participating in more reading/blogging challenges and things like that, but really I have no idea how to do this other than commenting and following other people. I could do that more regularly I guess?

Do you struggle with trying to get more involved in things and trying something new, like me? What bookish resolutions do you have? How many books do you usually read in a year? Have any suggestions for my blog that you would like me to do better or see more of? Let me know! 😊
