Hello fellow book nerds! Yesterday, the 28th, was my blog's first birthday! Can you believe it's already a year old? Where has the time gone?! 😱
(I planned to have this post go up on Saturday, but for some reason this weekend I had trouble focusing and getting anything done and I ended up being unexpectedly busy and I spent the night at my friends' house to celebrate her birthday, and life just was not cooperating with me apparently, so I was exhausted. 😴)
Anyway, to celebrate, I decided to do The Birthstone Book Tag, created by Jay @ The Awkward Bookworm!
Aaaaannnnndd.....SOMETHING REALLY EXCITING FOR ALL OF YOU, A GIVEAWAY! I've never hosted a giveaway before and I'm really excited, so stay tuned for details at the end of this post!😄😄😄
January (GARNET): Associated with warding off negative forces and dark energies.
- Name a book with the darkest/evilest character you can think of.
Okay, I'm not even done reading this yet, but DANG Warner! Tone it down a little! 😨
February (AMETHYST): Purple is associated with royalty.
- Name a book with regal qualities.

Okay, it's not purple, but the cover definitely is a royally kinda blue. And it's about a mermaid princess, so there. 😆
March (AQUAMARINE): Washed out.
- Name a 'wishy washy' character, a character who is not strong or a follower.

It's been a few years since I've read this, but the main character, Jenna, just kind of annoyed me. She had like, zero common sense. And yes, she's a 13 year old girl, she's not supposed to be perfect, and it's okay that she's a little naive, but you'd think you'd want your main characters to make smarter decisions and be less gullible, right? 😑
April (DIAMOND): A diamond in the rough.
- Name a book that you loved but is not well known.

THIS BOOK IS AMAZINNNGGGG! I wish they would turn it into a movie! It would just be so touching! And amazing! And AHHHHH! 😭 But I think I've fangirled enough about it recently. 😂 I was just so pleasantly surprised with this. This is an author I have been familiar with since I was 12, and I've always liked her books, but this was so different from all of her other books and it just blew me away! I so wish it was more popular because it is such an important book about feminism and rights and life and just UGH PLEASE READ IT!
- Name two characters who balance each other well.
Megan and David balance each other so well! Megan is totally no nonsense and kick-butt and David is a total dork who gets distracted with coming up with lame metaphors in the middle of a crisis but yet somehow also totally kick-butt? 😂 I love them so much. They are like the only OTP I actually care about.
June (PEARL): Associated with loyalty.
- Name a character who is loyal to the end.
Piper is pretty dang loyal. There were a couple of times when she totally could've turned back and left Anna behind and went back to her "everybody for themselves" survival attitude that she grew up with. But instead she felt such a strong sisterly bond with Anna that she knew that she couldn't live with such a selfish attitude anymore, and she stayed loyal to her friends through everything. I think that's another reason why I really liked this book so much.
July (RUBY): Blood red.
- Name a book that made your blood boil, one that made you angry.
This didn't necessarily make me angry, just very very annoyed. So close enough. 😂
August (PERIDOT): Pale green. (It pales in comparison to other gems.)
- Name a supporting character who you like better than the main character.
This one was hard to come up with, but eventually I settled on Ozma from the Dorothy Must Die Series. She's literally like the only innocent one at this point. 😆 Yeah, she had her brain wiped and is trapped in a body with someone else, and she may not be "all there" most of the time, but she didn't ask for any of that! She just kinda got pulled along for the ride and I just kinda feel sorry for her. 😂
September (SAPPHIRE): Blue like the ocean which is calming.
- Name a book that had a calming affect on you.

It was hard to find a book that I would consider "calming." 😂 But this one is close enough. It's a really heartwarming and relatable series, and it's one of my favorites, and if I ever reread these books, I would do it when I just wanted to relax and enjoy reading. 😊
October (OPAL): Iridescent.
- Name an iridescent book, this can be a book with a beautiful cover. (Shiny? Lots of color?) or you can base it off of a character. (Quirky? Colorful?)
Well, this cover is really silvery and shiny, like and opal...and let's just be honest, I wanted to find a reason to put Red Queen in here somewhere. 😂
November (TOPAZ): Associated with resilience.
- Name a books with a character who rises to the top in a time of adversity.
This also was a hard one, but I went with Meira from Snow Like Ashes because she literally started at the bottom and got to the top. 😂 Aaannd...that's all I'll say because of spoilers.
December (BLUE ZIRCON): Associated with friendship.
- Name a book with a friendship you want to be apart of.

I'm pretty sure I've answered a question like this with this book in another tag, but it's true! I would totally want to be in this friend group! 😊 I love how all of their personalities blend well together, of course I would love to sit around talking about books, and they always get to do cool things together! Also, I think I would fit in really well! I think my personality is kind of a mix between Jess's and Emma's. 😄
Wasn't that a fun tag?
Okay I'll stop stalling.
...And now, what you've all been waiting for!
