December Wrap Up + January Goals/Resolutions

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a Merry Christmas and a great New Year!

So far my year has been off to a great start. (Better than last year at least.) I had an AMAZING birthday earlier this month where a couple friends and I decided to become "book fairies" and decorate our old books to hide all over our town for people to find, which you can read about here if you want. 😉 It was SO fun, but now that all the exciting holiday and birthday parties are over, I kinda feel unmotivated to do anything now, which I guess is that usual "resolution slump" people get every new year. Like you feel really motivated at the end of December, and then...WHAM! You'd rather be a couch potato. 😞 UGH I'm so frustrated! Why does this happen? I'm blaming it on the fact that I caught a cold this week so I don't feel like doing much. But I got a planner and I am DETERMINED TO USE IT EFFICIENTLY. I think I'm having issues on how to set it up though because I feel like there isn't enough going on in my life to fill it out, but once I get a job (ugh yes I've been saying for months now I was going to apply and I still haven't 😔) I think it will be easier since I will have a constant to base everything else around.
Anyhoo, on to my monthly goals and New Years resolutions! (Even though it's like already halfway through January...haha...oops. 😳)

I didn't have any writing goals for December, except for possibly working on my Snow White short story and furthering my Nano project, which I didn't even do either of at all. 😕

  • Practice driving more. I can't even remember if I did this or not. I think I was too busy with Christmas stuff.
  • Apply for the bookstore job already! Haha. Nope. BUT THIS MONTH I WILL I SWEAR
  • Get my brain organized. 😂 Uh, I don't know about last month, but I know I'm still trying? I have an actual planner now that I got myself for my birthday, so that should help.
  • Catch up on movies and TV shows I need to watch. ✅
  • Write a New Year’s Resolutions Page in my bullet journal. ✅
  • Come up with resolutions to actually put on it. 😂 ✅

  • GET BETTER AT BLOGGING CONSISTENTLY! I'm really trying, guys. The only reason I'm writing this post on the day of is I was unexpectedly busy yesterday and the past few days I've been sick so I wasn't feeling up to much. But having a planner will help me make an actual post schedule so I can keep on top of it.
  • Try to figure out how to network better. I still have no idea how to do this, but I think this will just be an ongoing process of figuring things out.
  • Work on the surprise project for January. 😉 ✅ And if you haven't figured out what that was already, it was my online book club, The Second Star Society!

  • Jane Eyre ✅
  • The Mother Daughter Book Club ✅
  • Daughter of the Pirate King ✅
  • All Fall Down ✅
  • Uprising ✅
  • Atlantia ✅
  • Ruby Red ✅
  • Shatter Me I realized I still would be making my Goodreads goal if I saved this until January, so I'm currently reading it now. 😊

I don't know, I really need to come up with some kind of schedule to progress in all of my WIPs somehow. Hopefully I can at least work on that this month.

Life: (most of these are more of New Years resolution type things so they are kind of roughly for the whole year not just January)
  • Keep practicing with driving.
  • Apply to that bookstore job UGH I know, I need to stop chickening out and just do it THIS MONTH.
  • Get new glasses. My eyes are getting so bad I really need new lenses and also I accidentally popped the nose pads off like a year ago and I lost them so I need to get new ones. I'm tired off my glasses falling of my face all the time. 😑
  • Try to cut back on sugar. Haha...we'll see how this goes.
  • Look into possibly taking choir, a creative writing, or photography class at my community college in the future?
  • Try new things!
  • Use my planner and bullet journal more efficiently.
  • Make a monthly reading stats page somewhere.
  • Be more artsy (paint my nails more often, get more into photography, and practice calligraphy, drawing, making bookmarks and other crafts.)
  • Catch up on movies and TV shows that are on my watch list.
  • Get back into teaching myself piano.

This year:
Read 50 books for Goodreads and Beat The Backlist  (at least one 2018 release, one non-fiction, and one classic.)

This month:

Read and Finish:

The Neverland Wars (The Neverland Wars, #1)
Shatter Me (Shatter Me, #1)

The Dressmaker's Secret (The Chronicles of Alice and Ivy, #1)Ivy Introspective (The Chronicles of Alice and Ivy #2)

I follow Kellyn's blog over at Reveries, and I'm so excited to be beta reading the third book in The Chronicles of Alice and Ivy, At Her Fingertips for her next month! So now I have to finish reading the first two books first. 😉

What New Years resolutions do YOU have planned? Are you doing pretty good so far at staying on top of them? Or are you just kinda bleh like me? 😂 Are there any reading challenges you are excited to participate in this year? Give me some suggestions! I would love to participate more in the book blogging community with you! 😊
