Hi guys! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Mine was awesome! The food was amazing, and I had a lot of fun. My friend, me, and all her cousins decided to go see Wonder at the last minute, and it was so good! We all cried a lot. 😭 It wasn't sad, it was just really touching. It made me wish I read the book, but it was just one of those ones I just never got around to. 😕
Anyway, I'm sorry this post is kinda late, I had a looong day. But the good thing is I am here now and The Broke and the Bookish is having another Top Ten Tuesday, and today we are talking about our Winter TBR! (I guess you could include winter as the whole season, but this time I'm just going to include all the books I'm trying to get done by the end of the year.) So, let's get to it! 😊
Books I Have to Finish:
I started reading this one on the road trip down to where we went for Thanksgiving. It is an anthology with three Christmassy short stories, and I enjoyed the first one, The Jubilee Express by Maureen Johnson, though it was your typical Christmas teenage romance, but I thought it was cute and funny. There is something about the Christmas setting that makes me a little less annoyed with romance. I'm a sucker for all those cheesy Hallmark movies, okay? 😂 The second story I read when we got back, and it was my first work that I read by John Green and I was...less than impressed. 😔 Though I realize this probably wasn't the best example. I have never really been interested in reading anything by him, but his new book Turtles All The Way Down actually looks really good, so I'm hoping I'll like it whenever I get around to reading it.
And I only just started reading the last story, The Patron Saint of Pigs by Lauren Myracle, so I am not sure how I feel about it yet.
I have already read book 3-6 of this series, (because I'm stupid and I skipped the first two books because i thought they would be boring, but I ended up loving them so now I'm starting from the beginning) and I'm remembering so much why I love this series! I mean it's a book about a book club, what's not to like?
This is taking me soooo loooooong to get throooouuuughh. 😩 I feel so bad that it feels like a chore, but it's better that I read it for fun to challenge myself than to have to read it for school or something and end up hating it solely because I was forced to read it. And I set a goal for myself to get to a certain page by the end of the month so I was still making some progress even though I pretty much put it aside to work on NanoWriMo, and I made it, so now I need to focus on writing for the last couple days, because I got way behind. 😂
Books I Want to Start:
I love Ally Carter's books, but I have heard that this series isn't as good as her others, but I'm happy I'm finally getting around to starting it anyway. 😊
I HAVE BEEN WAITING ALL YEAR TO READ THIS! I'm SO excited! I ordered it as a pre reward for finishing Nanowrimo, but then Thanksgiving happened, and my mom had another health scare so I fell way behind so there is no way I'm going to get to 50,000, but I did pass my personal best, which was 27,000-something, but I'm not completely giving up! I'm still going to write as much as I can before Nano ends, even though lately I have been having the attention span of a goldfish, but I guess I can still reward myself for trying at least. 😜
I forgot how excited I was about reading this one! It looks awesome!
Ever since I finished All the Light We Cannot See, I've been really wanting to read more historical fiction, so I this will be a good one to read this winter. I don't know why specifically in the winter, but oh well. 😜
This cover is gorgeous! I remember when I got this book I specifically went hunting for this edition because I don't think they are still printing it since they changed the cover to this one which I hate! Ugh don't you hate when that happens? 😂
I'm a little apprehensive about starting this series, since I heard some things about the sequels that I am not so sure about, but I'm finally going to get over it and start it and see if I like it.
What books are you going to read this winter? Do you like reading fantasies during the winter? I've heard a lot of people do, but I don't think I pay much attention to what genres I read and when. I think if I did though, I would feel like I would read more contemporary in the winter, not fantasy. Probably because I feel like most Christmassy stories are probably contemporary romance. 😜 Have any recommendations? I would love to hear them! And do you like the Shatter Me series?
