Hello book bloggians! I guess that’s what I’m calling my readers now…it doesn’t really make any sense but it’s as good a name as any I guess...so…just go with it.😳
I know, another tag. But hopefully this will be the last one for a while. I just thought that this was a good time to do this specific tag since I’ve only had this blog for like four months and I haven’t done it yet so why not now?
This is originally the BookTube Newbie Tag but since I don’t have a BookTube channel I just decided to take the tag and just answer the questions but adapt them to a blog version. 😀 I don’t know who originally came up with this tag, but all credit goes to the owner!😊
1. Why did you start this blog?
Well as my intro on the top of my homepage says, reading and writing are my favorite things in life and I love everything having to do with storytelling and being creative. 😃 My friend also got me into watching BookTube pretty recently too, (I think it was only last summer or the year before, I don’t even remember.) and I was really inspired by the whole online book centered community thing, so I decided to start my own blog.
I thought about making a BookTube channel, but that might be a problem because A: I am extremely shy and soft spoken and talking in front of a camera is almost impossible for me to do, B: I express myself through writing way better anyway, and C: Blogging makes it easier to stay somewhat anonymous.
Maybe in the future when I’m more confident I’ll start a BookTube channel along with this blog, but right now I’m not planning on it.
2. What are some fun and unique things you can bring to the book blogging community?
Uh…hopefully just being myself will be enough. 😆 I really want to do book reviews and hauls and tags and things like that that it seems everyone else is doing, but I also want to try to post more things that have to do with my personal struggles with writing my own books and how that’s going and things like that. A unique idea I have (at least I hope it’s unique) for my blog is to start an original short story series exclusive to my blog that I can post new chapters to every month, but that might not happen for a while because I still have to figure out what it would be about and how I would fit it into my schedule when I go back to school. Also, there is a lot of popular books that I either haven’t read yet, or I’m just not into, so maybe that will make me a little unique.😜
3. What are you most excited for about this blog?
I’m really excited about reviewing books and actually having an excuse to read more books and having a goal to set. I think it will be really fun to have this blog help me expand my reading horizons so I can be inspired to blog about them and write my own books.😊 Also...BOOKS.
4. Why do you love reading?
I love reading because I love reading about new characters and places and situations and reading really inspires me to be a better writer. I have so much fun writing and creating my own characters and stories and I really hope that one day some of my books will have fandoms of their own.😀
5. What book or series got you into reading?
Well, if I think way back to when I was little, it was probably Peter Pan. I remember in elementary school I was literally obsessed with Peter Pan. Every single time my class would take a trip to the school library I would check out all the different versions they had and read them multiple times. I also owned the 2003 movie tie-in of the book, and I still believe to this day that that movie is the best version ever. I remember reading the tie-in so many times that the spine fell apart and it eventually got ripped clean in half and I used that stretchy kind of electrical tape to keep it together because I didn’t want to get rid of it. Eventually I did end up throwing it away when I grew out of it, but now I wish I hadn’t because now that I’m older I want to reread it!
6. What questions would you ask your favorite BookTuber or book blogger?
Well my favorite BookTuber right now would probably be Hailey in Bookland and my favorite blogger would definitely be Cait @ Paper Fury. I think I would just ask them something stupid like how did you get to be so cool? Like I’m just starting out and I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing. I don’t even really know what a blog tour is or how it works.😊
Here is a link to Cait's blog:
And Hailey's Channel:
If you want to check them out. 😊
7. What challenges of starting a book blog do you think will be the hardest to overcome?
Well I think it would be trying to get organized and stick to a schedule. I’m good at that but I haven’t really had time recently to come up with a set schedule that’s going to work so hopefully over the summer I will be able to do that. Also, actually promoting my blog and making it look cool will be a challenge, I’m not good at things like that.
8. When did you start reading?
I’m pretty sure I’ve loved reading all my life. I remember in elementary I read a lot of horse books like Misty of Chincoteague and a few of the Phantom Stallions but I think I read the first book of The Hunger Games when I was in 8th grade when I heard they were making a movie out of it. I decided to give it a try even though I wasn’t sure I was going to like it but now I’m in love! That was definitely my first YA book I read and it was the first official fandom I was a part of and I’m glad I got to get into it early on. I believe reading it was definitely one of the books that led me to have a blog like this today.😀
9. Where do you read?
I think my favorite place to read is definitely in the car; that’s where I seem to do most of my reading since when I’m at home or anywhere else really I get easily distracted by things. However, when I’m in the car with my mom she likes to talk and sing a lot and if we are long road trips she gets annoyed at me that I have my nose in a book instead of admiring the scenery with her. So, yeah that’s kind of a downside. 😂
10. What kind of books do you like to read?
Really all kinds of fiction except for horror and most paranormal or romance. Basically what I like to write. I also like reading a little bit of nonfiction if the topic looks interesting. I feel like I’ve been reading a lot of contemporary and dystopian lately though, and I’ve said before I really want to read more fantasy and branch out more so hopefully this blog will somehow help me do that.😉
Well, that’s it for this tag! I promise this will be the last one for a while and I will find some other things to blog about.😆
