The Goodreads Tag!

Hello book world!

I got my raspberry hot chocolate with four giant marshmallows ready and I am all set for my blogging day. I’ve seen a lot of fun book related tags on YouTube and I have always wanted to try one, even though a lot are probably outdated now. But I don’t care. I think it’s a great way to share more out myself and my reading habits so, without further ado, today I decided to do The Goodreads Tag because I am on Goodreads literally all the time. 😜

So the first question is: What was the last book you marked as read?

Okay this is kind of embarrassing but it’s Cloudy with a Chance of Boys, which is the third book in The Sisters Club by Megan McDonald. I read this book back when I was in elementary or middle school, (I don’t even remember) and I enjoyed it, and one day I was scrolling through Goodreads and I found it and remembered that I read it all those years ago, so I decided to put it on my read shelf to build up my collection of books I have accomplished reading. Currently my TBR shelf has 986 books on it and my read shelf only has 202. So yeah, I definitely need to catch up. 😲

Question 2: What are you currently reading?

I said this in another recent post but I am currently reading: Life in Motion by Misty Copeland which I am 22% through, Nerve by Jeanne Ryan which is at 23%, Broken Hearts, Fences, and Other Things to Mend by Katie Finn, (17%) Allegiant by Veronica Roth (9% yikes, that’s lame) Firefight by Brandon Sanderson, (14%) The One by Kiera Cass, (17%) Disney in Shadow by Ridley Pearson, (7%) The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey, (3% ugh, what is that? Like, ten pages? 😐) and Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver, Shattered by Dani Pettrey, The Wicked Will Rise by Danielle Paige, and Redeemed by Margaret Peterson Haddix are all at 0% because I was planning to start them, but all of my books are in storage right now so I haven’t been able to. Yes, I know this is a TON of books (really it’s only 12) but I’m used to reading a lot of books at the same time because I thought that would help me get through them faster. It doesn’t but…I still do it. 😕 I know I really need to step up my reading game and get these done but we are moving next week and I don’t currently have any of my books with me. 😢 So, hopefully things will settle down soon so I can plow through these and actually start writing reviews. It’s very hard to write a book blog with no books, but I’m sorry. I’m trying guys. 😝

Question 3: What was the last book you marked as TBR?

The last book I marked as TBR was Black Dove White Raven by Elizabeth Wein.😉

Question 4: What book do you plan to read next?

Well obviously I need to tackle the long list of all the books I started, but when I get my books back I think I’m going to start Before I Fall and try to read it in one sitting and put the other ones aside for a little bit so I can focus on it. The movie is coming out very soon (like, next weekend I think) and I want to be able to read the book first, then go see the movie, and right a full review/movie comparison/discussion thing here on my blog, so that would be fun to do. I guess it would be my first official book discussion as a new book blogger.😊

Question 5: Do you use the star rating system?🌟

I do occasionally, not all of the time, but since I have a blog now and I’ll be writing reviews, I’ll probably start using it a lot more often. I tend to be very generous when I rate books. I think I give out a lot of threes and fours and a few fives. (The fives and a few fours will most likely go on my favorites shelf.) Threes are pretty good for me; it means I thought it was okay, but I still enjoyed reading it. I’m really not all that picky when it comes to quality of books, and I think I’ve only given one book a two and I don’t think I’ve ever given a book a one. If a book gets a one, that must mean it was pretty bad, but I usually won’t give books anything lower than a three.

Question 6: Are you doing a 2017 reading challenge?

Yes, I am. 😄 I did one last year, which was my first time attempting it and I completed my goal of 30 books, so this year I thought I would try to read 40 books (but I might add a few later depending on how much reading I get done in my semester off school since I have a lot more free time.)

Question 7: Do you have a wish list?

Pretty much every book that is on my TBR shelf that I don’t already own is on my wish list. I recently put a few books on a wish list on Amazon and Barnes and Noble, but when I want to buy books I usually just go onto my TBR to help me decide. Plus, I just made a “books I own” shelf on Goodreads to get a little more organized and to help me keep track of what books I have already.

Question 8: What book to you plan to buy next?

I have no idea. There is a lot I want and the next time I can go book shopping I will probably end up buying out practically half the store because I haven’t been able to go shopping in a while. 😞 But, if I really had to pick one I think I’ll just go with Frostblood by Elly Blake because that is one I’ve had my eye on for a while because it looks really cool and the cover is really pretty.

Question 9: Do you have any favorite quotes?

I actually didn’t realize saving quotes on Goodreads was even an option until recently (I’ve only been on Goodreads since June 2015, so kind of a while now but not as long as other people I guess so I was just too busy using Goodreads to save books not quotes so…) but I just looked through some and saved a few for the sake of this tag so I will share one I really like:

“Becoming fearless isn’t the point. That’s impossible. It’s learning how to control your fear, and how to be free from it.”

           -Veronica Roth, Divergent

Question 10: Who are your favorite authors?

I’m not sure, I don’t think I’ve read a ton of any one author, but I guess I’ll list some whose books I did read that I really loved:

Suzanne Collins, Ally Carter, Margaret Peterson Haddix, and Brandon Sanderson.

Question 11: Have you joined any groups?

Nope. Not yet.

Last Question: What do you think Goodreads could do better?

I don’t think I have that much I would want to complain about, but I do think the Goodreads app is a little easier to navigate than their website is, I don’t know, that might just be me. Also, I wish you could search for and enter giveaways on the app because I don’t think you can do that, but if you can I just haven’t figured it out yet, but that would be nice.

I’m sorry this post ended up being a lot longer than I thought it would be, but if you stuck it out until the end, thank you. 😃 I hope you enjoyed this post and that you have a great day! Now, I should probably go start packing to move or maybe do some actual writing like I keep telling myself I'm going to do.

Write ya later!
